Welcome to my world

I’m a freelance Australian journalist & content creator.

I write business stories for media outlets, and create compelling content for brands, entrepreneurs and SMEs.

I’m a regular contributor to the business and finance sections of The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald and Brisbane Times.

Corporate storytelling and branded content is also my specialty – I’ve created compelling narratives for brands like Westpac, Vodafone, CPA Australia, CSIRO, Australia Post, CBA, Bankwest, Aussie Home Loans and Steadfast, among countless others.

And I work with communication agencies in a freelance capacity to create amazing content for their clients.

PRs: I welcome all pitches and press releases – I’m often searching for statistics or case studies to include in a story. Exclusive story pitches for specific publications welcome.

Some clients I’ve worked with

Pat Mackle, entrepreneur

I just wanted to drop you a line to say a very big thank you for your article. I’m really happy with the sentiment; want to sincerely thank you for capturing exactly what needed to be said. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the very for your future, both in your career & to live a happy life.

Business editor, unnamed

I just wanted to thank you not just for your stories which are always polished but also for the packaging work you do around the pics and for putting your contact details all over your work. You’re a real pro, thank you.

Sally Locke, founder, Amplify Communications

Nina is more than a creative, talented, efficient freelance writer that I regularly engage to write articles and content that always hit the mark. She’s a sharp sounding board for ideas and angles, well researched to support the theme of the piece, and she’ll work with you to ensure you’re 100% happy with the final output. She’s entrepreneurial and thinks outside the box. I’ve known Nina for many years, and, quite simply, she nails it every time.

National award program editor, Sydney

Nina, I’ve now edited all three of your submissions and wanted to thank you for your great story-telling! You did a great job explaining the challenges and solutions of all three companies.

Jacqui Henderson, marketing manager, Steadfast

Nina has been instrumental in helping us establish Steadfast’s new blog, Well Covered. As the editor, she understood our audience and can always be counted on to meet a deadline.

Cara Waters, small business editor, The Age

Nina is a great writer who continually finds interesting angles and newsworthy stories. She’s a regular contributor for The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and Brisbane Times with good reason.

Marianna Malkin, communications manager, Charlie’s Cookies

Thanks again for being so supportive. The story is beautifully written and it really reflects the gratitude Charlie’s has for being continually awarded such a prestigious national contract. On a personal note, I also wanted to thank you. You have been both professional and attentive and it does not go unoticed. In today’s mainstream media climate it can be difficult for a small business to cut-through (or even get an email reply from some publications).

David Higgins, editor, Stockhead

Nina Hendy is one of the most professional and reliable business journalists I have worked with.

Charlotte Regan, marketing manager

Thank you (again!) for your hard work on the ‘Guide Your Money’ article for Fairfax Media. It has appeared in 131 metropolitan and regional publications across Australia. Naturally, we are absolutely thrilled and grateful to you! We look forward to continuing the conversation with you into the future.

Thomas Sonne, TV producer, Denmark

As a Danish TV producer working worldwide I have a constant need for trustworthy and thorough local journalists to assist me. One of them is Nina Hendy. I had to do four important interviews as a reportage shoot for a big European banking client in Australia – including experts in water management, a farmer in severe drought, experts in Australia’s coal economy and coral reef development. Nina Hendy outlined a range of possibilities, completed all the necessary research about the Australian market in each sector, tracked down the high-ranking experts, pre-interviewed them and delivered a thorough written brief ahead of filming, sending our film crew all over Australia to capture our story. Nina also provided vital background information and suggestions for questions and filming. Furthermore she followed up while we were on the road. All in all a great experience of professionalism.

Aarti Chauhan, PR executive, Recognition PR

“Having worked with Nina on somewhat of a viral campaign, I can only say that she’s a journalist par excellence. So impressed with Nina’s ability to go to the core of a story/subject that’s complemented perfectly with her exceptional writing. It’s been such a great experience working with you. Here’s to more!”
