You've landed on my desk. Welcome.

Are you an editor with a story you’d like to commission?

Did I reach out wanting to interview you for one of my stories?

About me:

I’m an Australian freelance journalist & content creator focused on business + finance.

Topics I write regularly about for media include: Property, finance and wealth, superannuation, ESG, investing, banking, lending, consumer trends, financial markets, the impact of climate change on finances and fintech.

Editors at The Australian Financial Review, The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, Brisbane Times, Nine Network, The Urban Developer, Company Director and CFO magazine regularly commission me to cover news and features.

I also create compelling brand narratives for business and finance brands that are published in the media.

I also take on occasional projects with communications agencies – assisting with the vision or creation of branded content.

Oh – and I’m definitely open to new projects, so get in touch to chat.

I’m a proud member of Australia’s Media Entertainment Arts Alliance (MEAA) Freelance Pro, representing the highest ethical and professional standards in freelance journalism.

Available for commissions.

Testimonials

Anna Saunders, co-founder, Primer

Nina goes the extra mile to deliver copy that is engaging and thorough. She can be relied upon to deliver, clean, authoritative content.

Peter Bakker, co-founder, Unhedged

“When you find great people to work with you usually want to keep it a secret, but for Jennifer Wilson and Nina Hendy I’ll make an exception. If you are looking for pocket rocket PR power I would go no further and ask Nina an Jennifer to work with your business. Their approach is extremely efficient, in depth and cost effective. This duo got us in no-time into national papers and they are not happy til they over-delivered.”

Alice McGenniss-Destro, marketing manager, Slack

“Nina Hendy was onboarded as Slack APAC’s first regional content writer in early 2020. We have worked closely on a number of projects including Slack Sessions and the successful Fast-Moving Companies project in partnership with ‘The Australian.’ As an extension of the Slack marketing team, Nina brings a fresh perspective and business lens to the content she crafts. She is always punctual with delivery deadlines and  genuinely a delight to work with.”

Kate Morgan, co-founder, Eggy

Talking with Nina was like talking with a friend…who asked really good questions! She listened, probed us, and perfected our media release to get a good angle on our story that she knew would resonate with editors and readers. It felt like Nina was part of our team and was really going in to bat for us. In the end, Nina knocked it out of the park and got us an outstanding result that we could never have achieved on our own.

Tech startup founder

Nina shot our company into the stratosphere! She not only crafted a brilliant story about us as founders and our tech startup, her wisdom and advice resulted in us scoring a spot in a respected national publication. Gaining this level of exposure and credibility has been priceless. Love your work Nina!

Rebecca Smith, CEO, That Comms

“We engaged Nina on behalf of a client to write a white paper on a significant piece of research. Nina was a pleasure to work with on this project. She was able to translate complex data into an eloquent narrative – employing astute judgement and a way with words.  She was punctual with all deliverables, nimble in accommodating shifting timelines and a great sounding board for the announcement’s media strategy. We would not hesitate to recommend her for corporate writing projects.”

Business editor, unnamed

I just wanted to thank you not just for your stories which are always polished but also for the packaging work you do around the pics and for putting your contact details all over your work. You’re a real pro, thank you.

Thomas Sonne, TV producer, Denmark

As a Danish TV producer working worldwide I have a constant need for trustworthy and thorough local journalists to assist me. One of them is Nina Hendy. I had to do four important interviews as a reportage shoot for a big European banking client in Australia – including experts in water management, a farmer in severe drought, experts in Australia’s coal economy and coral reef development. Nina Hendy outlined a range of possibilities, completed all the necessary research about the Australian market in each sector, tracked down the high-ranking experts, pre-interviewed them and delivered a thorough written brief ahead of filming, sending our film crew all over Australia to capture our story. Nina also provided vital background information and suggestions for questions and filming. Furthermore she followed up while we were on the road. All in all a great experience of professionalism.

David Higgins, past editor, Stockhead

Nina Hendy is one of the most professional and reliable business journalists I have worked with.

National award program editor, Sydney

Nina, I’ve now edited all three of your submissions and wanted to thank you for your great story-telling! You did a great job explaining the challenges and solutions of all three companies.

Cara Waters, technology & startups editor, The Age

Nina is a great writer who continually finds interesting angles and newsworthy stories. She’s a regular contributor for The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and Brisbane Times with good reason.

Charlotte Regan, marketing manager

Thank you (again!) for your hard work on the ‘Guide Your Money’ article for Fairfax Media. It has appeared in 131 metropolitan and regional publications across Australia. Naturally, we are absolutely thrilled and grateful to you! We look forward to continuing the conversation with you into the future.

Jacqui Henderson, marketing manager, Steadfast

Nina has been instrumental in helping us establish Steadfast’s new blog, Well Covered. As the editor, she understood our audience and can always be counted on to meet a deadline.
